Rrr_johnposterDecember 15th a benefit concert will take place in Boston with all proceeds going to the John Ryan Pike Memorial Foundation. Ra Ra Riot, Tokyo Police Club, Vampire Weekend and Special Guests will come together for this good cause. As you may have read on The Listen in June, John Pike, drummer for Ra Ra Riot, was found dead. The family and band were left in shock at this unexpected tragedy. His family has now started this fund in his memroy to give back to the community with music. Its mission:

John Ryan Pike Memorial Foundation is going to begin a lending library of musical instruments
that will allow underprivileged children to begin playing by borrowing
an instrument, or simply provide them access to an instrument that they
may have never tried before. The foundation plans to join forces with
local high schools and colleges to bring these children together with
students who are willing to volunteer music lessons. The long term
hope for the foundation is that one day, they will have the means
necessary to create a rehearsal/recording space and ultimately a
community where musicians can continue on in the pursuit of John’s
passion, playing and creating music.

The show will be at Middle East Downstairs. Tickets are $15 and you must be 18 or older to attend.

If you can’t make it to the show, but want to make a donation, here is the info:
