Not sure if you were able to catch the Grammy Awards last night, but fear not I have a brief recap of how it all went down just in case.
Interesting Notes of the Night:
- Lots of duets with old and new…I’m assuming to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Awards show: Alicia Keys and footage of Frank Sinatra, Beyonce and Tina Turner, Kid Rock and Keely Smith and Dave Koz, Fergie and John Legend (not so old), Rihanna and The Time, Andrea Bocelli and Josh Groban, Lang Lang and Herbie Hancock, Alicia Keys and John Mayer, Foo Fighters & Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, Aretha Franklin and Bebe Winans joined by a few Christian Gospel groups, and I’m sure some I tuned out for.
- Touching tribute performance by Kanye West to his Mother. If you didn’t know who it was for, you could check out the back of his head to read “Mama” in big letters. When the camera cut to the audience, people were visibly crying.
- Grammys in poor form for playing exit music over Kanye’s acceptance speech for “Best Rap Album” for Graduation just when he was getting to thank his mom. At least he called it out by saying, “Thought when I started talking about my mom, you would stop playing the music”. They eventually did.
- Tina Turner running around the stage during her hits medley at the age of 68. Are you kidding me?!!! Sure you can get plastic surgery to look younger, but you can’t fake energy and mobility!
- Amy Winehouse winning most categories she was nominated for including “Record of The Year” for Back to Black. She won 5 total.
- Herbie Hancock surprising a few including Amy by winning “Album of The Year” for River: The Joni Letters.
- Alicia Keys’ eyelashes.
- Carrie Underwood looking like a dominatrix during her performance.
- Amy Winehouse performing via satellite and at times making it seem like she wasn’t going back to rehab right after her performance.
