Sure, we share the same name, but that’s not why I have an affinity for Mr. Lidell. I love him because he’s a musical genius and he encompasses all that you could want in an artist….great music, fantastic lyrics, and amazing live shows (the triple threat of music). Check out the video below to look through a window into the recording process of his upcoming release Compass out on May 20th on Warp Records. Oh, and if you weren’t already going out to buy this record on the day of release, maybe the contributions by Feist and Beck will entice you!
Check out the video below for the new single, “Walls”, from Shout Out Louds upcoming release, Work, out on Merge Records 2/23/10 . I LOVE seeing how people record….seriously. Can’t wait for the album!
I don’t know where you’re checking us out from, but here in Austin, it’s been nothing but rain and gloominess to start out my week and I found this song, “By and By”, by Lay Low very appropo for my mood. Download the MP3 in our MPFrees section.
Yes, you are very lucky to get not 1, but 2 Friday Dance songs this week……I know, most of the time you don’t get any. Let’s just say I’m feeling charitable today and wanted to share with you one more song or more specifically a video mash-up combining my two loves of Phoenix’s “Lisztomania” and John Hughes’ film Brat Pack movie clips. Thanks Sarah Neuehaus for creating and thanks Bunch for turning me onto.
If you don’t know about the Guillemots (the UK band), I’m sorry. Your life has been a little less happy than mine. But it’s never too late to get on the proverbial band wagon and love them as much as Robin W. and I do (that may not be possible). So run don’t walk to their myspace page or web site and check out their brilliance. One of my faves is “Trains to Brazil”…..it was a Friday Dance Song for many a Friday (how can horns not make you dance???).
HOWEVER, your FRIDAY DANCE SONG this week is a new one by the lead singer Fyfe Dangerfield (pictured 2nd from the left and releasing a solo album) called “Walk in The Room”. Thanks Robin W. for brightening my life with this AMAZING song. Now listeners, go frolic in this cold winter weather to this fantastic tune!
